I bought and restored this sweet little cape style Federal period home in 1989-90. The interior of the house had suffered the loss of its original historic fabric including its fireplace and a couple of walls. A later stairway had been put in. Little evidence was left of its original configuration but it was certain that it had been altered. So, I had to use logic and my knowledge of early homes to decide what to do. A new stairway in period style was built, new walls & doorways, with salvaged antique doors or the period. A Dining Room was created separate from a Parlor. I had great plans to expand the house into a Connected Farm configuration, but the economy crashed in New England in 90-91 and these plans never came to fruition.
The middle room used as a Dining Room, with the kitchen beyond. The kitchen is divided between the eating area and the cooking area with a traditional 18th Century tavern keep.
